Global Workplace Sector Leader

The best integrated design firm in the world has a unique opportunity for a key leader to join the firm as the Global Workplace Sector Leader.  Workplace projects include all projects related to commercial office buildings including campus design & planning; build-to suit, core & shell projects and corporate interiors.

Location:  Preference for one of the following metropolitan areas: Washington DC, New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Omaha or Phoenix.  Relocation to one of these cities is also a possibility for a qualified candidate.

Position Summary

The Global Sector Leader is responsible for strategic planning and growth of the sector, achieving revenue and profit targets, and managing the ROI of the entire Global Workplace Sector; promoting knowledge sharing by being recognized as a national expert; and promoting DLR Group brand.  The Global Sector Leader is also responsible for the professional growth, development and succession planning of the sector team and being a strategic, visionary, proactive, and positive leader.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Proven collaborative leader in a national or international design firm.
  • Recognized thought leader and strategist in Workplace and Corporate Design
  • Strong Financial acumen specific to large design projects and the overall business of design
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with clients, executive leadership and especially all levels and disciplines that comprise a Workplace project team.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities coupled with strong organizational skills.
  • Possess the proven ability for developing meaningful professional relationships. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, analytical thinking, relationship development techniques, and business development processes.
  • Ability to communicate a design solution or business idea in a confident yet thoughtful manner.
  • A strong collaborator with proven ability to engage the integrated design resources of the firm.
  • Able to travel approximately 30% of the time to DLR Group offices working with teams and participating in interview/proposal…preparation and execution; working with our workplace knowledge community (forum) and participating in firm wide strategic planning meetings annually.  Initial on-boarding of the candidate will involve more extensive travel for the first 60 days.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with multiple corporate projects in Core & Shell as well as complex interior architecture.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Licensed Architect or NCIDQ
  • 15 or more years industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Demonstrated experience as a firm leader responsible for setting and executing strategy
  • Principal-in-charge for multiple built projects of $20M+ construction value
  • Experience in successfully securing & leading the delivery of projects internationally.
  • Proven experience in securing national/international Master Service Agreements with Fortune 100 or equal corporations
