Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer at DLR Group you will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems from schematics through construction administration on a wide range of building types.  As part of our integrated design team you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design.

Position Summary 

You will be responsible for participating in the design process of mechanical building systems (HVAC and Plumbing) and preparing detailed mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and energy calculations.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
  • Develop mechanical designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and layouts.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and narratives.
  • Review and analyze cost estimates.
  • Coordinate mechanical design requirements with architecture, structure and other disciplines.
  • Possess excellent skills in planning and scheduling
  • Be capable of working on multiple projects with concurrent schedules
  • Adapt to changing project scope and schedules
  • Perform project QA/QC reviews

Required Qualifications: 

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Bachelorís Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer designing HVAC and Plumbing systems for a wide range of complex projects.
  • Experience with BIM, specifically Revit.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in HVAC and Plumbing design and construction administration.
  • Proven track record in design of K-12 projects both new and renovation/remodel projects.
  • Excellent understanding of hydronic systems, air side systems, and controls.
  • Experience with selecting system type to meet the building and owner needs.
  • Experience and interest in sustainable building design
  • An appreciation and understanding of architectural design and how architects work and think
