DLR Group's Minneapolis studio has an opening for a Workplace Client Leader. We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Position Summary

You will be responsible for coordinating with other Workplace sector teammates to identify, qualify, and pursue project opportunities to secure new work. Once awarded the project, you will lead the design, team, and be the primary client contact working closely with our talented design professionals in Minneapolis. This includes contract negotiations and educating the client on our design process. In addition, you will partner with project managers to ensure the financial health and successful execution of the project while maintaining close contact with the client during the duration of the project.

DLR Group’s Workplace practice provides a suite of services to end users and developers throughout the US, including core and shell architecture, tenant improvement, interior design, workplace strategy, engineering, and building performance optimization. The distributive leadership of our Workplace studio enables us to mobilize comprehensive teams that can meet the requirements of virtually any workplace building project or program, regardless of size or location

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess the proven ability for developing meaningful professional relationships to develop new business and secure new clients. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, analytical thinking, relationship development techniques, and business development processes.
  • Attend industry events, business development events, interviews, and client meetings.
  • Be a collaborative leader who can work with a wide spectrum of personalities and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task and strong communication and prioritization skills.
  • Partner with our North Central Region Workplace Leader to establish and achieve annual business and design goals.
  • Provide thought leadership internally within the firm as well as externally with clients and the Workplace industry.
  • Have the ability to communicate a design solution in a confident yet thoughtful manner.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the coordination aspects and related requirements of all design disciplines.
  • Ensure all DLR Group design processes and standards are followed during the duration of the project.
  • Collaborate with other Project Managers to develop and adhere to the work plan and project schedule.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and engage clients for prompt payment.
  • Participate in performance and career reviews for Workplace-specific staff.
  • Mentor team members and participate in hiring, training, and onboarding of new staff.
  • Be sharing, self-motivated, positive, flexible, and lead by example.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong organizational skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience, inclusive of 5+ years in Project Management and leading Workplace projects specializing in core and shell, tenant improvement, and Workplace interiors.
  • Keen understanding of Workplace industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with design teams, clients, and projects.
  • Ability to travel as the team and projects require.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for visa or residency.
