DLR Group's Design Technology team has an opening for a Design Technology Discipline Lead for our Engineering practice. We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Considering this model, this role could be based in the following cities:

  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Omaha, NE
  • Dallas, TX
  • Portland, OR

Position Summary

The Design Technology Discipline Lead, Engineering will set the guidelines for the BIM workflow throughout the Engineering Group. The top priority of the DTDL is to ensure that our BIM processes are geared to maximum efficiency, as this relates to the utilization of Design Technology tools for engineering.

The successful candidate will:

Cultivate a culture of learning

  • Coordinate national training for DLR Group standards and best practices.
  • Review and coordinate BIM training with Discipline BIM Leaders for tools and workflows. Curate content in learning and development platform monthly.
  • Coordinate and direct DLR Group-specific Revit Skills Assessment questions and training with discipline BIM leaders.

Evolve Engineering Practice

  • Coordinate annual BIM summit to further develop and align technology and innovations of our BIM practice.
  • Manage and implement items within Revit/BIM discipline request logs for quarterly content releases.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with discipline BIM leaders to coordinate development, testing, and training.

Communicate Effectively to Staff

  • Communicate status and updates of Revit request logs with discipline BIM leaders including review and back check.
  • Track and report tools and content usage to Discipline BIM leaders and Engineering leadership.
  • Communicate new developments and tools internally.

Create a DLR Group Design technology approach

  • Communicate support needs of engineering team to Design Technology managers.
  • Coordinate engineering related software development needs with Design Technology Development team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical college certificate for engineering technology, BIM/drafting technology.
  • Sound and highly developed technical competency skills in the areas of utilizing BIM tools, the ability to learn new BIM tools and the ability to translate and implement DLR Group best practices and training.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to effectively write user guides and Revit user documentation.
  • Experience developing effective and concise training on BIM tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, engineering, interior design or related construction industry.
  • Previous experience leading a team using Revit.
  • LEED accreditation.
