DLR Group's Total Rewards team has an opening for a Human Resources Compliance + Immigration Specialist in our Minneapolis office. We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Position Summary:

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the firm’s HR practices adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will be responsible for monitoring and implementing compliance initiatives, conducting audits, providing guidance to HR and leadership, along with developing and maintaining effective compliance programs. Additionally, in this role you will provide expert guidance and support to employees and DLR Group leaders navigating the full US immigration process.

Our Human Resources team has been a rapidly growing function at DLR Group over the last few years and this new role will play an important part in helping us continue to mature our function. We are seeking to add a team member eager to take on new challenges, support firm initiatives and help build out internal processes and procedures. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead HR compliance and policy initiatives ensuring firm-wide adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Provide communication and advice regarding HR legal requirements, best practices, and changes to employment policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with process owners to develop and implement appropriate internal processes and controls, and HR compliance improvement plans.
  • Owner of full US Immigration process. This includes responsibility to review and improve process and approach along with being the day-to-day contact.
  • Acts as consultant to employees, offers support throughout the immigration process.
  • Partner with HR and external legal team to address and resolve any immigration issues, make informed decisions, and implement strategic practices.
  • Provide relevant stakeholders with immigration guidance and strategy, while simultaneously advising and partnering with Talent Acquisition team on pre-employment screenings, risk identification, and candidate evaluation support.
  • Participate in projects and provide other support as needed to meet the vision and objectives of DLR Group.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of direct Human Resources experience, inclusive of at least 2 years in an HR compliance related role
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience with EEO, OFCCP, AAP, VETS and other required HR compliance and reporting processes.
  • Experience with various HRIS platforms, such as ADP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to advise, influence and build credibility at all levels.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail coupled with advanced critical thinking skills to proficiently analyze complex data.
  • Dynamic and collaborative team player poised to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the architecture, engineering, or design industry.
  • Experience supporting a national, multi-location firm.
