DLR Group's Design team has an opening for a Project Manager to help lead our K-12 Education sector.

We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

As a Project Manager at DLR Group you will be responsible for leading projects on budget and schedule while delivering design excellence.

Position Summary

DLR Group has an established history of great design in Des Moines, Iowa. We are looking for a Project Manager that has experience leading projects throughout the design and construction phases. We are an employee-owned firm where everyone is empowered to use their design voice.

As a Project Manager in our K-12 Sector, you will partner with clients, vendors, and consultants as needed to deliver projects on time and on budget. You will lead our studio to provide hands-on supervision to architectural, engineering and design staff. Additionally, you will present and interview in front of clients to win work.

Collaboration is key to build relationships across the in-house team as well as our clients! At DLR Group, you would join an innovative team leading the industry in research-based design.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to handle complex K-12 Education projects of the largest magnitude.
  • Develop project Work Plans (schedule, budget, cartoon set) for project success.
  • Be responsible for the coordination of all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Serve as primary liaison contact with clients to bring projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction.
  • Actively manage client budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments.
  • Estimates fees, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts on the most complex projects.
  • Provides oversight and monitoring of work of less experienced project managers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years project management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Microsoft Project)
  • Experience negotiating and budgeting projects and fees proposals
  • Collaborative management style and strong people skills
  • Good communication and public speaking skills
  • Experience participating in interviews and client presentations
  • Punctual, able to adhere to deadlines, and have a strong work ethic
  • Willing to travel as projects or tasks require

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Architect
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design from an accredited program
  • PM experience working on Education (K-12 or Higher Education) projects
  • Experience in Planify and Vision
  • Knowledge and use of Revit and AutoCAD
