Acoustician

The best integrated design firm in the world has an opening for an entry to mid-level Acoustician with an architectural background.

As an Acoustician at DLR Group you will be responsible for applying your acoustical design skills in the realization of award-winning design projects. As part of our integrated design team you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design.

Position Summary

Our rapidly expanding Innovative Technology Design Group is searching for an entry to mid-level acoustician. This unique opportunity is directed towards an individual who is interested in high profile projects in a vertically integrated company including A/E services, AV, IT, Theater Consulting, Lighting Design, Security, Museum Design, and Room Automation. The successful Acoustician candidate will be required to:

  • Provide architects, engineers, and other project planners acoustic design guidance on sound isolation, room acoustics, environmental noise and MEP noise and vibration control.
  • Review periodic project design documentation for acoustic issues and conformance with acoustic design criteria.
  • Provide acoustic design guidance for a broad range of building types that coincides with the Firmís market channels.
  • Assist senior staff with project design reviews, and other task-oriented acoustic design work.

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to review and understand project documentation for various project disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical, theatrical, etc).
  • The ability to provide assistance in taking field measurements for acoustic analysis using sound level meters and other measurement tools.
  • The ability to work within a multi-disciplined environment.
  • The ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects.
  • The ability to clearly convey technical acoustic concepts to non-technical clients and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two to seven (2-7) years of experience as an acoustical consultant or related field.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Must have a degree in acoustics or equivalent professional experience in a science-based related field.
  • Knowledge of current acoustic design standards, calculations and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the use of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • CATT and EASE proficiency
  • Experience with acoustic field measurements (reverberation time, noise reduction, environmental noise)
  • WELL/LEED project experience or professional accreditation
