The Architecture team has an opening for an experienced Project Architect. DLR Group operates within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Location: Washington, DC

Position Summary:

Project Architects at DLR Group are responsible for managing all aspects of project document development for a range of institutional projects, including education and municipal projects. They are also responsible for coordinating with project team members to maintain work product quality within the established project schedule.

As part of our integrated design teams, you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You will partner directly with the Project Manager to ensure the project's financial health, the quality of project documents, claim prevention, team collaboration, and communication. Additionally, you will lead the cross-functional design disciplines in developing technical solutions.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of and the ability to coordinate and lead the design disciplines in developing technical solutions.
  • Have knowledge of all aspects of professional practice from schematic design through project close-out.
  • Be able to work and present ideas in a team environment and self-manage and self-motivate in a creative environment.
  • Possess a high level of technical proficiency in the production of drawings.
  • Work directly with project managers and designers on the conceptual development of project documents.
  • Grow as a leader of the in-house team, coordinating with engineers, interior designers, the PM, and consultants.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field.
  • 8-12 years of experience as a Project Architect (in institutional work)
  • Proficient in REVIT and rendering software.
  • The ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without needing a work visa or residency sponsorship.
  • Professional License / Registered Architect.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sustainability Certification / Accreditation (LEED, WELL, etc.) and a demonstrated interest in sustainability design.
